Kim So-Hyun and Song Kang will Make You Ring Their ‘Love Alarm’ in Press Conference

Cast of the Netflix original series, ‘Love Alarm’—Kim So-hyun, Song Kang and Director Kim Jin-woo, attended the online press conference on Monday, 8 March 2021.

The cast and director joined the press conference in person, together with MC Park Kyung Im. The lovely Kim So-hyun, Song Kang and Director Kim spread love with their adorable hearts to the press.

‘Love Alarm’ was first released in 2019 where the series received tremendous love and support globally. The great success of the drama has welcomed its return with ‘Love Alarm Season 2’, which fans have been anticipating for.

The cast expressed their pleasant surprise over how widely appreciated ‘Love Alarm’ has been globally since the release of first season. Kim So-hyun and Song Kang have also observed that fans left countless comments on their respective SNS platforms, curious about how the drama will progress and who Jojo will choose to be with in the end.

In Season 2, the series depicts the upgraded Love Alarm application—in the world where a mobile app tells you how many people will have a crush on you within a 10-metre radius. The love story of Jojo (Kim So-hyun), Sun-oh (Song Kang) and Hye-yeong (Jung Ga-ram) continues with the upgraded Love Alarm 2.0.

Besides Love Alarm 2.0, the cast have also shared how their characters have upgraded in Season 2. Kim So-hyun, the author of ‘The Ringing World’ in the series, conveyed that Jojo has now grown into an adult and has matured in her relationships and life.

Song Kang, who plays the superstar and Love Alarm Badge Club member Sun-oh, has mentioned viewers will also be able to see a more mature and grown-up Sun-oh after his break-up with Jojo in Season 1.

Although Jung Ga-ram (plays Hye-yeong) was not present during the press conference, Director Kim also praised the actor for his professionalism, “Ga-ram was impressive and he contained his feelings inside while filming on set. Ga-ram is also similar to his character, Hye-yeong.”. A video of Jung Ga-ram greeting viewers was also being played on the screen, as the actor is seen joyfully waving.

Q: If you would play another role in the drama, who would it be?

Kim So-hyun: I would like to play Sun-oh as his Love Alarm is constantly ringing, I want to experience how is it to be popular too!

Song Kang: I want to play Jojo as there are 2 wonderful men (Sun-oh and Hye-yeong) who are completely in love with her. Even though Sun-oh has a lot of people ringing his Love Alarm, the person he loves might not ring his alarm.

Q: What is the biggest difference of Love Alarm Season1 and Season 2 and what is a particular scene that you would want fans to look out for?

Kim So-hyun: The new function in Love Alarm 2.0 will be a defining factor that will allow that story to have twists and turns.

Song Kang: In Season 1, there were conflicts. The conflicts will overcome in Season 2.

Director Kim: Season 2 is about the excitement and growing from the choices and decisions made.

Q: If Love Alarm 2.0 existed in real life, will you download it or express your feelings on your own?

Kim So-hyun: As you have seen in the trailer, my decision hurt both Sun-oh and Hye-yeong, it was difficult and I would prefer to express my feelings with my own words.

Song Kang: While using Love Alarm 2.0 is more convenient, I think delivering your feelings in your own words would be more truthful instead of the application.

Q: You have played many different characters in your career in the industry. What has been the biggest appeal of ‘Love Alarm’?

Kim So-hyun: There was excitement of a new challenge to portray Jojo as there were emotions of starting university life and becoming an adult in ‘Love Alarm’.

Q: What is the reason why you have been casted in so many webtoon-based series, like ‘Love Alarm’?

Song Kang: I want to work on something that is meaningful and entertaining. Webtoon-based series have been loved by a wide audience already and I think that also connects me to such series.

The cast and director closed the press conference and each left a message to viewers of ‘Love Alarm Season 2’.

Kim So-hyun: Thank you for loving ‘Love Alarm’, With Season 2, the chemistry between the casts is stronger and we will present a more exciting show!

Song Kang: Thank you for all the love and support, ‘Love Alarm Season 2’ is also fun and different in some aspects. Hope you will love it!

Director: I hope viewers will feel the energy I channeled from the filming set into the drama.

At the end of the press conference, Jung Ga-ram is also seen giving finger hearts from the video on the screen.

Love Alarm returns with a new season, played by Kim So-hyun, Jung Ga-ram, Song Kang, Ko Min-si, Kim Si-eun and more. With an entertaining storyline that anyone who has been in love can relate to, the show has earned praise and opened a new chapter in the Korean young adult romance genre known as “high-teen.”

Here comes a love that will make you want to cry!

Netflix has unveiled five posters of memorable quotes from the characters of Love Alarm season 2, which picks up four years after the creation of the Love Alarm app that rings when you are within a 10-meter radius of someone you like or are the object of someone’s liking.

The five characters show their feelings on their posters using their own lines from the show. Jo-jo, who is unable to communicate her mind because she has a placed block on her “Love Alarm,” reveals her innermost thoughts, saying, "I told him for the first that I like him," which raises questions about who she is confessing this to. Hye-young, despite having an unresponsive alarm, says, “Whether that thing rings or not, it doesn’t matter to me,” expressing his deeper feelings toward Jojo. Sun-oh, saying “From now on, I’ll trust only what your eyes tell me” to distance himself, still shows Jo-jo affection, foreshadowing a more intense love triangle. Gul-mi, who is trying to enter the “Love Alarm” club, says “Who, me? Why? What about me, exactly?” and seems to be unable to hide her embarrassment. Yuk-jo, who is dating Sun-oh but knows Sun-oh still has lingering feelings for Jo-jo, says “I know that feeling of a burning heat. How can I beat that?” and relates to everyone who has ever experienced unrequited love.

The shape of the ring, which shows slightly different variations depending on the character, seeks to catch the eye. The attention will be focused on the expanded story of Season 2, which will show a darker triangle romance and a more diverse form of life and love in a world that has changed so much since the launch of the “Love Alarm.”

Love Alarm Season 2, which shows the inner feelings of five people, will be released March 12th exclusively on Netflix in over 190 countries around the world.

The trailer opens with Jo-jo (Kim So-hyun) narrating, “In this world, you must ring an alarm when you like someone.” Jo-jo, who is dating Hye-yeong (Jung Ga-ram), still concerns herself with the Love Alarm app despite hers not ringing. Sun-oh (Song Kang) appears with a poker face and stares at someone. Though Jo-jo is with Hye-yeong, she cannot hide her complicated feelings for him. Sun-oh's words and actions further complicate the situation. “From now on, I’ll trust only what your eyes tell me,” Sun-oh proclaims to Jo-jo before kissing her.

Following more emotional scenes, it becomes clear that both Hye-young and Sun-oh want to convey their true love for her. The trailer comes to a touching end with Jo-jo’s narration: “Who do I love now?” The love triangle among two men and a woman who want to confirm each other's true feelings will unfold in this season."

The first season of Love Alarm is available to watch now, and the second season will be released on March 12, exclusively on Netflix.

Viu is set to premiere the anticipated Korean period romance drama series River Where the Moon Rises on 15 February 2021. The story is adapated from a Korean folktale recorded in The History of the Three Kingdoms and based on Princess Pyeonggang (starring Kim So Hyun) and her General, On Dal (starring Ji Soo).

Born as a princess but raised as a soldier, young Pyeonggang sets out on a tour of the kingdom with her mother, the Empress, during which they arrive at a village where they meet General On Hyeop and his son, On Dal. Sharing with him her goal of becoming Goguryeo’s first queen with her intellect and confidence, the straightforward On Dal laughs at her lofty dreams as women do not engage in state affairs, though he means no harm. Meanwhile, the Empress is seeking help from General On Hyeop due to the schemes and conspiracies ongoing in the kingdom, but the two are assassinated in the process. The story follows Pyeonggang’s quest to uncover dark and dangerous conspiracies in the kingdom.

The series features Kim So Hyun, who is well-known among K-drama fans for her varied roles in everything from historical dramas to rom-coms. Kim began her career as a child actress in 2006 and initially gained fame for playing a villainous young queen-to-be in Moon Embracing the Sun. Subsequently, she took on leading roles in hit dramas such as Who Are You: School 2015, The Emperor: Owner of the Mask and even won the Excellence Award at the 2019 KBS Drama Awards for her portrayal of a clumsy, yet hottempered courtesan in The Tale of Nokdu. Most recently, she is reported to be the youngest actress to surpass 10 million followers on Instagram which illustrates her popularity around the world.

Playing On Dal, Ji Soo captivates audiences with his boyish charms and athletic looks. He has appeared in romance dramas including When I Was the Most Beautiful and all-time favourite JTBC title Strong Woman Do Bong Soon. He also played the love-struck prince Wang Jung in 2016 time-travel period drama Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo - a Kdrama classic.

River Where the Moon Rises is produced by established South Korean production house Victory Contents. Behind the lens, Yun Sang Ho (Kingmaker:The Change of Destiny and Saimdang, Memoirs of Colors) will direct and writer Han Ji Hoon helms the production of the series (Temptation and Women of 9.9 Billion).

Viu-ers in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Myanmar, Hong Kong, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Jordan, and Egypt will be able to watch River Where the Moon Rises exclusively on Viu on February 15, 2021.

Yoo Seung Ho, Kim So Hyun and Infinite's L (Myung Soo) are finally back with new drama, The Emperor: Owner of the Mask which aired on Oh!K, Astro Channel 394 on every Thursday and Friday at 7.50pm. Many have been excited since the announcement of the cast line-up as the drama not only has the love-line story between Yoo Seung Ho and Kim So Hyun but also the bromance story between Yoo Seung Ho and Myung Soo. So without further ado, let's check out the main casts and the director's interview.

Q: Yoo Seung Ho (YSH) and Kim So Hyun (KSH), could you please tell us how your acting skills in The Emperor: Owner of the Mask will be different from your previous works in relation to your characters.

YSH: It was a challenging journey for me to convey the emotions as a Crown Prince in Emperor. I had to express very complex emotions as the Crown Prince who has been living his life wearing a mask without knowing the reason for it. When he discovered the truth about it and realised that so much sacrifice had been made for his sake, he probably would have felt overwhelmingly frustrated and maybe angry as well. The only way for me to depict the Crown Prince effectively was to be faithful to the character as it is written on the script. I have done a lot of research to ensure that my character, the Crown Prince, comes across as a more attractive and relatable person to the viewers. After discussing it with the director, we wanted the audience to sympathise with the character, feel his sadness and share his joy in successfully taking his revenge at the end.

KSH: I have appeared in many different period shows. Although it is assumed that my character would be very similar to those in my previous roles, I tried not to focus too much on it. I will lose direction with my character if I am focused on my previous roles instead of concentrating on my current work. So, I stay focused on my character, Han Ga-eun, the Emperor and I do my best to be immersed into the drama.

Q: Kim Myung Soo (L), this is your first challenge in doing a period drama, what kind of preparations have you made for your first role in a period drama?

L: To prepare for this period drama, I watched many period movies and dramas including Masquerade and Kwanghae: The Man Who Became the King. I play the role of a guy who belongs to the lowest class in society and later in the drama, I become the king. So, I practised a lot to make the transitions as smoothly as possible.

Q: After the news broke out about the drama casting, fans became excited about this great-looking couple, Yoo Seung Ho and Kim So Hyun and expectations ran very high. Could you please tell us more about the chemistry between the two of you when you met for the first time and how you two felt about it when you heard the news about casting decisions?

YSH: Both of us had experiences as child actors and it felt like I had known her for a long time. When I met her for the first time, although she is six years younger than me, I could not speak to her in a casual manner without using Korean honorific. As she seemed very mature, it felt like she was much older than I was. It was great working alongside her.

KSH: When I met him for the first time, I initially felt a sense of familiarity with him. As the both of us have been acting since we were children, we have been watching each other’s work over the years. However, it had been such a long time since I had seen him last, so it was very awkward and I felt really nervous as well. I thought he was a very shy person, but once the shooting began, he became so playful. He was a really attractive actor so we had great chemistry on the set. We are having so much fun shooting this drama together.

Q: No Doh Cheol PD (PD), I think the combination of Yoo Seung Ho and Kim So Hyun is very good. I wanted to know why you decided to cast them.

PD: I always wanted to cast Kim So Hyun as a lead actress playing a high school girl ever since I was making preparations for a romantic comedy titled Mermaid. When my plan did not work out, I still wanted to work with her no matter what happens and I also believed that she would be a good match with Yoo Seung Ho. So far after observing both of them on set, I think Yoo Seung Ho has not found a way that allows him to show all of his charms. However, in my opinion, I dare say that this role of Crown Prince will become the character of his lifetime. I believe that this character will enable him to show diverse aspects of himself and you will be surprised to discover so many different types of charms he has to offer. Kim So Hyun, on the other hand, is a very intelligent actress. She is able to provide us with many feedback on set and help each other out.

Q: In the drama, the relationship between Yoo Seung Ho and Kim Myung Soo is similar to that of The Prince and the Pauper. What is the chemistry between you two and can we expect an ardent bromance of the Joseon dynasty?

YSH: We had excellent chemistry from the start. By nature, Kim Myung Soo a very bright person, so he created an amicable atmosphere on set and led us really well. In the drama, the melodramatic story with Kim So Hyun would naturally be the biggest fun factor you can look forward to. However, while we were shooting the drama, I found the current relationship with Lee Seon of the lowest class very interesting.

L: In terms of bromance, I think I cannot share anything definitive but as you watch the show you will notice a friendship between the two of us. There are many such scenes and as the drama progresses, our conflicts and other factors will become apparent as well.

Q: Yoo Seung Ho and Kim Myung Soo, in the drama, your characters have to wear a mask, were there any difficulties when you were wearing a mask in the drama?

YSH: When we wore the mask, only our eyes and lips are visible to the audience. Although I only found out about it, later on, no matter how hard I tried to express my emotions, be it with tears, laughter or anger, not even half of the emotions were delivered on screen due to the mask. Thus, during filming, I would be overacted and oftentimes go overboard so that viewers will be able to see my emotions.

L: Wearing a mask to deliver facial expressions was difficult but controlling my gaze was more difficult. There were many scenes where I made more efforts to be more expressive with the mask on. When we were wearing a mask, it creates a charm of its own in terms of appearance and it also exudes some kind of special vibe.

Summary of The Emperor: Owner of the Mask

Crown Price Lee Sun (Yoo Seung Ho) who always been living in a hidden life, where a stand-in pauper faces the crowd in his place. While he tries to unveil his identity, Lee Sun falls in love with Ga Eun (Kim So Hyun), a woman who is seeking revenge against the Price for killing her father.
